The Driven Boys’ Golf Team

Quartz Hill High School boys’ golf team, a perennial Golden League winner, has finally began their 2016-2017 season. The team kicked off their season just recently and plan to finish strong with a hopeful invite to CIF.

Noah Plantinga, a player on the golf team, stated, “I have been playing golf for two years, and I feel great about this season and our matches.” Plantinga, who has been on the team since his freshman year, explained, “My favorite thing about the team is the amount of play time at courses like Rancho Vista. I really get to work on my skills there. My goals for this season are to straighten my drives.”

In addition to Noah, there is Evan Larson, an important piece to QHHS Boys’ Golf success. He stated, “I have been playing golf for about a year and a half or so now. My goals include dialing in my game and continuing to have a great time. In terms of tournaments, I hope we go to CIF and maybe beyond.”

Larson takes pleasure in his practices with his teammates. He said, “My favorite thing about the team are the guys and the fun. It’s a great time all around. This season has been tons of fun so far and I know that the team has already surpassed some of their goals, so that’s good.”

There are also some more experienced players on the team, such as Chrystien Ontiveros. Although only a freshman, Ontiveros has been playing since he was nine years old.  “It’s been about five years. I came into the season strong, and I hope to end it that way. I really love this team because I can make new friends and hang out with them too. My goal is to just improve myself in golf and hopefully make CIF,” he said.

Chrystien also gives golf lessons to younger kids. He stated that it is his passion and he wants to share it with others.

This year, the boys golf team hopes to make their comeback. It is definitely a team to keep track of, as they will be taking many W’s against other schools.
