ASB, the Associated Student Body of Quartz Hill, is a class and club known for its hard work and dedication to representing the students at QH. But there’s so much more than what meets the eye. Hectic work days, assembly weeks, and event planning from day to day, all for us. The Royals of Quartz Hill High School, all to make the school a better place each and every day. You might have a few questions about ASB. Like what it is exactly, or how to join. So let’s get into a deep dive all about the strong dedication of ASB.
What is ASB?
The Associated Student Body is a collective program that not only represents the school and students but also brings fun activities and positivity to the campus. Whether it’s from spirit days or even activities held during lunch. ASB has two main periods: the 0 period and the 4th period. The program is structured along with the commissioners of the classes. A very well-known part of ASB is the posters around campus. Most share game schedules or encourage students on campus. However, they also organize the numerous events held for the students. Assemblies, sports games, and even the annual dances or tailgates.
What does ASB bring to the school?
ASB tries its absolute hardest to bring its best for the school. “You cannot simply talk about things without putting them into action.” The ASB vice president, Elina Marie, states. This is a prime example of the program’s belief in ‘doing to be done’. Acting and advocating for a better community and campus. Their new and creative posters around campus, encouraging finals week, kindness, and school events, show how they are putting in the work to encourage student participation. One of the main benefits ASB offers is its events. Winterball, hoco, tailgates, and even trunk or treat. Besides the amazing events handled by ASB members. A large part they bring to the campus is overall involvement in the school. Their lunch activities and spirit weeks build a stronger community within our school. Making it a more positive and stronger place. The students’ complete creativity and passion drive the campus to become better every day through their work.
What does ASB mean to the students?
ASB might seem like a time-driven and fun class to participate in. However, it is actually a lot more than that. According to Marie, the ASB vice president, “My passions from the start have always been to create a community around campus, ideally the picture-perfect campus you wish to seek.” ASB allows students like Marie to show their passion and dedication to the campus and community. Being able to use their voice and their ideas to bring change for the better. As well as lending a much-needed helping hand.
From a student’s perspective, ASB serves as a large helper to the school. According to Emma Smith, a sophomore at Quartz Hill, “They help with school spirit and setting up the events well. Along with helping the campus to have a stronger community.” Even the students of the campus are able to see how helpful a positive impact ASB is sharing. From their lunch rallies to the pep rallies and school spirit weeks are all helping the school community expand and grow.
Why join ASB?
ASB is an amazing program to be a part of. It brings many things to oneself and the campus. Being able to show passion to the community and the students is a large part. ASB advocates for students to join and simply break out of their shell, or even share their ideas, creativity, and passion to make the campus a better place. When asked why students at QH should join ASB, Brody Culver, the ASB senior class president, said, “Students should join because it takes them out of their comfort zone and prepares them for their future through a variety of skills.” ASB is a major opportunity for students to lead and grow. Helping oneself and sharing new experiences and skills. Teamwork, leadership, and growth all come together from a program like ASB.
It’s easy to say how surprising it is to see how wildly dedicated these amazing students are. ASB brings a wide range of events, projects, and ideals to the QH campus. Don’t overlook their hard work and dedication to the school so easily. And remember, if you ever want to lend a helping hand to the school, ASB might be the perfect fit for you.
