10 Fall Activities
The summer has come to an end, and fall is now upon us. The weather may still be disgustingly hot, making you forget that the season has even changed, but the coming of autumn means there are new things to do. Here is a list of ten completely original and creative fall activities that you have definitely never done before:
1. Visit a Pumpkin Patch
Pumpkins are a staple of the fall season, and pumpkin patches will start to pop up everywhere. If you need one for carving or baking and do not want to go to your local grocery store like everyone else, visit a pumpkin patch! Many of these patches have rides and activities that will distract the workers while you make off with some of their pumpkins.
2. Make Seasonal Food
Now that you have some pumpkins, why not use one to bake a pie or bread? After you have finished preparing the dessert, eat the whole thing on your own and justify it by telling yourself you are preparing for winter hibernation.
3. Have a Bonfire
The weather is getting colder, and you will need to find a way to keep warm. Bonfires are a great way to stay cozy while staying outdoors. Invite some friends, make some s’mores, and try to stay away from the direction the wind is blowing the fire. Unless you like suffering, then go right ahead.
4. Go to a Haunted House
Nothing screams fall like Halloween, and how could this holiday be complete without haunted houses? You can find one around almost every corner, with admission costing only a few dollars. If you do not feel like going to one, you can always turn your own home into one. All you have to do is wait until you are alone, turn off the lights, and watch some horror films or read creepypastas. Then you can spend the rest of the night staring into the darkness of your room, trying to convince yourself that nothing is there. Fun!
5. Take Pictures
If you need more super-aesthetic pictures for your Instagram, go outside and take some of the colored leaves scattered along the ground or of the pumpkin spice latte that you just bought at Starbucks. If you do not feel like going outside, you could always just steal some pictures from Tumblr and pretend that you took them yourself.
6. Drive to the Beach
Summer may be over, but that does not mean you still cannot go to the beach. When you get there, you can have a picnic and wonder to yourself why you thought this was a good idea as the sand blows into your food.
7. Go to a Football Game
Football season has started, and it is time to start supporting our football team. What could be more fun than being at school on a Friday night surrounded by screaming students and parents while eating subpar chili cheese fries? Answer: nothing.
8. Make Your Own Costume
Since Halloween is just around the corner, you probably already started thinking about this year’s costume. Instead of going out and overpaying for a mediocre one, try making your own. Think of a cool design, get a sewing machine and fabric, and go for it. When you realize that you actually do not have the skills to make it, give up, grab a bedsheet, and throw it over your head. That is good enough.
9. DIY Projects
If you did not let your failed costume attempt get you down, try making something else. There are many activities worth trying, like knitting a scarf, decorating pinecones, and summoning demonic spirits into the human realm. The choice is yours.
10. Buy Warm Clothes
It’s time to store away your cargo shorts and wife-beaters and start shopping for more thick and cozy clothes. I recommend buying a “scoodie,” a super stylish cross between a scarf and a hoodie. Not only is it extremely fashionable, but it is functional as well.
