Favorite Halloween Activities

It is almost Halloween, which means it is time to commence the festive activities. There is so much to do, from pumpkin carving to costume shopping.

Thirty-five students of Quartz Hill were asked what their favorite thing to do during this time of year is. Their opinions ranged from sacrificing a human being, learning black magic in order to impose misfortune onto those who have wronged them, dressing up as a vampire for Halloween and ending up being initiated into an underground society of real vampires, meeting a real life serial killer (but not knowing because they think they are just wearing a costume and eventually getting murdered), and being tried as a witch and burned at the stake. You know, just the basic activities.

The first activity got the second to last number of votes; apparently, blood sacrifices are going out of style nowadays. It is safe to say that the reason for its decreasing popularity is due to the growing number of vegans. I am sure they are starting protests against sacrificing living beings and suggesting that we eat tofu instead. Either way, it is a fun pastime that the whole family will surely enjoy.

Using black magic to torture one’s enemies is the second most popular hobby according to the poll, meaning there are many dark, evil people at Quartz Hill. Being able to send evil spirits to haunt the guy who spit out the gum you stepped on yesterday would be pretty sweet, right? And, if you get good enough, maybe you can become the leader of a cult. This is recommended for anyone who has a hard time letting things go; now, you can find your peace in others’ suffering.

Accidentally becoming part of a secret organization of vampires is also popular. This happened to me a few years ago, and I must say that being recognized as one with the undead is cool. If I am going to be honest, a lot of them look like scene kids from 2011, but who am I to judge? They are still figuring themselves out. The only thing I don’t like is the whole blood-sucking thing; I am just not down with it. I will stick with my cranberry juice, thank you very much.

The most popular activity of course was meeting a serial killer because who does not want to be brutally slaughtered, am I right? Being burned at the stake was the least popular. To be completely honest, I am not sure why, as I think being a witch is pretty wicked. (See what I did there? *wink*) And who would not want to become a martyr for their people? Being burned keeps you warm as the days get colder.
