Rebels’ Volleyball

It is the beginning of the second semester in Quartz Hill High School, which means the spring sports season has finally dawned upon us. One of these sports, boys’ volleyball, is extremely popular, and has us all anticipating what the team will accomplish this season.

The boy’s volleyball team held tryouts on the week of January 23rd. Many tried out; however, only a few were selected for the team. A JV volleyball player, Kevin Stephenson, stated, “I started playing volleyball back in sixth grade, and have been playing ever since through school, clubs, and parks and rec.” Stephenson said that although he has had practice for only a week, he has seen tremendous improvements in both himself and his teammates, and he even has the cuts and bruises to show for it.

Stephenson also spoke highly of the camaraderie within the team: “My favorite part of the team is just my teammates. They are all super friendly, helpful, and hilarious. It is tons of fun to practice with them. I think the season will be great. All our players are highly skilled and motivated. This year, we are aiming for first in CIF, and there is a real chance that we will if everyone tries their hardest.”

Stephenson says he really enjoys the sport and he plans to go far in volleyball in the future.

Michael Moussa, another JV player on the volleyball team, stated, “This season would be my third year playing the sport, I believe. Previously, I played at my middle school, Hillview, for my seventh and eighth grade years.”

Moussa said that the best part of the team is his coaches and teammates, and he enjoys the bond that he has with them.

It is currently pre-season for the boy’s volleyball team, but they will be starting their games soon.

Quartz Hill High School has many sports teams, but their volleyball team is definitely one to watch. Make sure to tune in to this year’s boy’s volleyball season. It will be full of fun games, tense rivalries, and lots of competition. The boys have and will continue to practice hard and fine-tune their techniques to be ready to bump, set, and spike on their opponents.
