“From a student and ASB standpoint, quarter three was very lively.” Jordan Coffelt, the class of 2028 ASB treasurer.
Safe to say, we all can agree. This third quarter has been filled with events and exams. With all the sports kicking off and the annual events, our school has been extremely student-active. There have also been quite a few changes inside the school. The new TV broadcasting school-wide information, located by the big gym entrance and in front of the office. We have also had window stickers installed around campus showing our Quartz Hill Royal spirit.
School Events
To start off the quarter, we had our semester club rush. A time to promote and join the wonderful clubs around Quartz Hill. For further information, check out the article, “Getting Involved: Highlighting Two Clubs for Club Rush” written by the one and only, me, Sarah Richards. Not long after our club rush, we had our winter rally! Our winter rally, held on February 6th, was to highlight our winter ball and celebrate our return after winter break. Along with this, we also finally got our prom theme for our upperclassmen. “City of Stars” is inspired by the famous hit film La La Land.
Our winter ball, also hosted on February 6th, complemented the Stranger Things-themed winter rally. We also have our upcoming car show in April. Specialized to show off the students of Quartz Hill cars and also promote fundraisers for clubs and sports. One thing we experienced this quarter was a ton of days off. Which, even though we were back from winter break, we all needed.
Spirit Weeks
With so many wild events, we also had some special spirit weeks. Our first one of the year is winter rally spirit week, which was Stranger Things-based. We also had Valentine’s Week, which included our four-day weekend. Lastly, we had our BSU spirit week to celebrate Black History Month.
Sports
Our one-of-a-kind cheer team also brought home a title during its competition in Vegas on February 20th-21st. “We were able to beat three other teams. Along with hitting zero, both days, which is making no mistakes during a routine.” Arielly Gutierrez expressed that we were able to showcase and represent our Quartz Hill Cheer Team throughout the weekend, thanks to their hard work and dedication this season.
Swim also started their season with multiple wins during their meet on February 23rd. The dance team was also on a roll, bringing home multiple medals during their weekend competition.
Academics
To wrap up this article, let’s talk about something school is truly all about… Academics!!! Progress reports were sent to keep your lovely parents updated on your grades and attendance so far this semester. Additionally, there are upcoming academic awards for QHHS students who thrived in the first semester. Being held on March 3rd, in the big gym at 6 pm!! For all juniors, SAT sign-ups are now open and due by February 27th. I wish you all the best of luck. Lastly, we have our QHHS Stem Expo. From robotics to health communication, and even science fiction. All projects, with the expectation of science fiction (due March 6th), will be due and presented on the day of March 16th!!
With that being said, our quarter three is officially coming to an end. Next step, AP season, finals, and graduation. Many articles to come, thank you for reading Royals!
