Daniel Hernandez – Soccer Superstar
This year Daniel Hernandez has been one of the most underrated soccer players in the Antelope Valley. Standing at 5’7, Hernandez does not seem like a threat; however, his crisp and sharp tackles have proven otherwise. Coached by Robert Gonzalez, Daniel Hernandez proved himself to be a great defensive player, dominating the other teams as left defender last season.
Although the Quartz Hill Boy’s Soccer Team sadly missed their shot in the playoffs due to a late-game controversial event, Daniel Hernandez kept his head high and continues to work tirelessly on his game after this missed opportunity.
Daniel Hernandez expressed his disappointment with this season: “This year was very tough. We were very hardworking on and off the field training to become Golden League Champions.”
When asked about missing the playoffs, Daniel Hernandez stated, “It was heartbreaking hearing the news that we [had] been disqualified from the CIF Playoffs, especially when we [had] been working so hard to win every game.” Hernandez stated that, although the season ended, he will continue to train with his teammates and prepare for the next season.
Hernandez expressed his love for soccer, saying that he works on his game daily to keep an edge on the competition. Hernandez began playing this game at a young age and started to play with people much older than him in order to get better at the sport.
Daniel Hernandez stated, “ I started playing when I was eight years old and my father would force me into joining soccer teams because I was fat and lazy. Upon joining my first team I did not know that I was going to fall in love with the sport and commit part of my life to this sport, and I still thank my dad to this day.”
Daniel Hernandez has come a long way and has impressed many in the Antelope Valley. With his hard work and dedication to the sport, it is clear that we will continue to see Hernandez strive. With the support of his family, friends, and teammates, Hernandez will not only continue to grow and amaze, but he will also have another opportunity to dominate in the upcoming season.
