5 Things to Do Over Winter Break

1.Catch Up On Shows / Start New Ones

School is definitely busy and extremely time-consuming. More often than not, although we say that we want to watch Netflix, we don’t really get around to doing so. Use the winter break to catch up on new seasons of shows that you skipped in favor of your calculus homework. Maybe even start a new show! ‘The Good Place,’ ‘F.R.I.E.N.D.S,’ and ‘The Office’  are definitely good shows to binge watch over winter.

2. Channel Your Inner Food Network

It’s the holidays, which means bake, bake, bake! Learn something new! Branch out with some delicious chocolate mug cakes or peppermint swirl brownies! You’ll be able to pass some time while making delicious treats! Fudge is always a crowd favorite, and you can get into the Christmas spirit by making snickerdoodles! Either way, whether it’s to make sure you’re not bored or for a party, baking will definitely add a perfect touch to your vacation.

3. Learn Something New

Sure, school’s out, but that doesn’t mean that learning stops! Take the time to learn how to edit photos, knit, or play that one video game that everyone is talking about. Not only are you keeping yourself distracted from the plague of boredom that comes every break to the people who have nothing to do, but you’re also doing something that you may have wanted to do for a long time. Either way, you’re keeping your brain fresh and keeping yourself occupied, so it’s a win-win! If your goal for this break is to learn how to cook, please don’t burn the kitchen down.

4. Consistently Take Naps

Yes, we know that it’s break, and most of the time will be spent napping, but we have three weeks before school starts again, which means that there are three weeks before the start of the second semester, meaning another semester loaded with all-nighters, tests and quizzes, finals, AP exams, projects, and more. Take the time and take regular, consistent naps to catch up on all the Z’s that you missed during first semester. It’ll be worth it, trust me!

5. Expand Your Taste In Something

This may sound similar to number three, but this one’s a bit more specific. Maybe you’ve always had pretty handwriting, but you could always take it to the next level by learning how to letter in those calligraphy-style fonts! Do something out of your comfort zone, expand. Maybe when you go back to school, you’ll have some wicked-new skills to show your friends!

We here at the Ubiquity wish you Happy Holidays and a great winter break!
