CIF Boys Volleyball
Just recently, our own Quartz Hill Boys’ Volleyball team season ended. The team played an outstanding season and entered the playoffs. Our Boys’ Volleyball team went to CIF with a match against Loara High School. This game began the 2016 CIF Southern Section Volleyball Tournament in our very own gym at Quartz Hill High School. The game was one-sided with a complete domination from our team. They eliminated Loara High School and moved on into the Division 3 CIF playoffs with a win on their back.
After their dominating game against Loara, the team moved on to face off against Viewpoint. After the first game, our boys were actually down one win losing to Viewpoint by 5 points. Then, they switched up their game plan and won the next three games against Viewpoint, eliminating them 3-1! This comeback pushed our Rebels further in the playoffs.
After that game, our Quartz Hill Rebels Boys’ Volleyball team only had two more days to prepare for their next game. The San Luis Obispo team traveled to Quartz Hill looking for a battle. They put up a good fight in each game, but they never managed to win a set. In the end our boys won 3-0. After defeating San Luis, the boys were one of the last four teams in our entire division!
Just four days after the game against San Luis Obispo, our boys’ team played Valley Christian for the Semifinals in Division 3. The Rebels fought hard and tried to keep it a close game, but Valley Christian came out victorious.
Win, lose, or tie, we are still proud of our boys’ volleyball team. The team put their all out on the courts and made it so far. Their coach, Patrick Studdert, did an outstanding job of keeping our Rebels in the playoffs for so long.
The boys varsity volleyball team did so well this season that their rank increased. Before this season, our national rank was 90, and our state rank was 59. Now, our national rank is 16, and our state rank is 6. Thanks to our boys volleyball team, we officially have bragging rights.
