Every January, the NFL starts the race for the Lombardi, and after every year, one winner emerges victorious. The Superbowl has never been won back-to-back, otherwise known as the three-peat. This year, the Kansas City Chiefs have a chance to be the first to do it. However, the underdogs, the Philadelphia Eagles, have a chance to end the dynasty the Chiefs have been building.
Kansas City Chiefs
Over the past few years, the Kansas City Chiefs have been the best teams overall, winning three of the last five Superbowls and also clinching the AFC West nine times in the last 10 years. Led by legendary Coach Andy Reid, the Chiefs have won 17 games and have only lost an impressive two games, both of which were lost by a small margin. On the offense, star Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is one of the best Quarterbacks in the NFL today, with this season alone throwing over 3,928 yards for 26 touchdowns, with a whopping 67.5% pass completion rate. Another key player to the Chiefs’ success is star Tight End Travis Kelce. Travis Kelce is widely regarded as one of the best Tight Ends in the league today, garnering 97 receptions for 823 receiving yards. Not only has Travis had success on the field, but he has also garnered success off of the field, dating world-renowned singer and billionaire Taylor Swift.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles have been less fortunate in the playoffs, only in one Super Bowl in the past five years. In that Superbowl, they also played the Kansas City Chiefs, however, they lost to an unlucky field goal, which had turned the tie game only seconds remaining until overtime, into a 3-point lead for Kansas City. The Kansas City Chiefs won that Superbowl in a breathtaking moment. However, the Eagles are looking to take revenge for that Superbowl, with many suggesting that they will be the end dynasty built by Mahomes and the Chiefs.
Halftime Show
Every year, the Superbowl Halftime show is one of the most sought-after shows, usually pulling in millions of people and dollars. In previous years, many famous faces have performed, such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Rihanna. This coming halftime show, 17 Grammy Award Winning Hip-Hop artist Kendrick Lamar will be performing, featuring 5 Grammy Award Winning R&B artist SZA.
