One of the most exciting activities in high school is coming up. The iconic prom! Every prom is different, but we take things to the next level at Quartz Hill High School. You probably have so many questions, so let’s answer them. What should you expect as a QHHS student going to prom?
On May 3rd, according to ASB advisor Mr. Culver, a bus will pick prom attendees up from the school and take all people attending to the prom location. The prom will be held at Santa Anita Park, 285 W Huntington Dr. Arcadia, CA 91007. This is approximately a 1 hour and 30-minute trip, so make sure what you’re wearing is comfortable! Speaking of clothing, what is not acceptable?
The clothing requirement is pretty relaxed, and understandable! There are no canes, chains, bandanas, head rags, or baseball caps allowed. You can not wear see-through or sheer material between the mid-thigh and bust area. No exposed undergarments, or clothing that overly reveals body parts. For example, bare midriff, bare lower back, plunging bustline, slits, and dress/skirt length higher than the mid-thigh are not allowed. Getting past the boring stuff, wouldn’t you like to know the theme?
The theme is “Meet Me At Midnight,” but what does that all entail? From Junior class president, Camila Ayros, it is all sparkle and shine, “we wanted to make it very partyish, very glam… a retro, disco, glitz and glam theme.” If that is not the next level, what is? The ASB members have outdone themselves in this theme. This is probably one of the most amazing themes there could be, yet there’s more! The activities planned will bring all students fun and smiles.
The ASB has planned to have O’Connor Photography on site, so make sure you bring enough money for the package you want! A photo of their pricing is placed to the right. Additionally, ASB plans to have on-site caricature drawings, bringing smiles and laughter to all who participate. Moreover, there will be video games, which you and your friends can have a blast on, and compete against each other.
Going back to the bus that will take you to all this fun, let’s dive into that information. Your bus stickers will be delivered to your second-period class on Monday, April 14th. Additionally, if you don’t have a second-period class, or are on independent study, go to the Activities Office in Administration to pick them up. If you wish to ride on the same bus as your friends, place your stickers on a sheet of computer paper, and give it to Mrs. Estrada in room 217 by the end of B lunch on Wednesday, April 16th. Your sheet of paper can not contain more than 45 people, including guests. If you are on independent study, submit your sheet of paper to Ms. Tiffany in the Activities Office in Administration by the same date, April 16th, or give it to a friend on campus to submit it with the rest of your friends. Once submitted, you can not change who is on the sheet of paper, and no guarantee is made that everybody you want to be on the same bus will be together. Speaking of what will be guaranteed, here is the list of items, you can not bring with you.
If you bring these additional items, they will be confiscated. These items include glow-in-the-dark items, gum, wallet chains, glitter, markers, any illegal substance, all medication & pills, including pain relievers, pens and pencils, lighters and matches, canes and zoot chains, sharp objects, liquid items, including bottled water and drinks, mascara, foundation (lipstick and other solid makeup are fine), any item(s) that can be used as a weapon, containers with a screw-on cap or lid including perfume and cologne bottles, eye drops, and mouthwash. To have an amazing night, refrain from bringing these items, so you and your friends can have a blast without any complications. However, phone charging cords and portable chargers ARE allowed.
All in all, everyone who attends prom will have an amazing time, with fun activities such as professional photography, caricature artists, and video games, filled with smiles and laughs. The early bird pricing is only available until March 21st, so get yours now, and don’t forget your guest tickets when buying your own! May 3rd will be a night you’ll never forget, with the incredible theme “Meet Me at Midnight,” but make sure you don’t bring items like glitter, glow-in-the-dark items, liquids, sharp objects, medication, or screw-top containers.
