We’ve all been there before. You removed a couple of 0’s here, and maybe (illegally, unfortunately) laundered a little bit too much money. I get that feeling. While you are in handcuffs in the back of that officer’s car, you may start to wonder things like “Darn, I’m hungry”, or “I hope my ex-wife sees this and thinks that I’m cool now, Carol please come back,” or maybe even “which horribly evil man came up with such conceited laws, also Carol please come back I miss my kids”. Well, look no further than some Mesopotamian guy named … Hammer ability, I think. Anyhow, this Hammurabi guy (and his laws, I guess too) were no bueno, I’d like to think. Regardless, his laws were full of holes (like Swiss cheese). One such example is “If a builder builds a house for someone, and does not construct it properly, and the house which he built fall in and kill its owner, then that builder shall be put to death.” Firstly, this sounds like a skill issue?? All of this is pretty easily avoided by the builder by building a bad house, then having it fail while the people are outside of the house, then chalk it up to “oh man, the copper we got sucks, I’ve gotta tell my copper guy (Ea-Nasir) to get me better copper”. Then, proceed to sell them a secondary and hopefully better-constructed house. This Hammurabi guy REALLY might have had a screw or two loose, another one of his laws went something like “If any one steal the minor son of another, he shall be put to death.” Who’s going around stealing the miners? We need those guys for the mines! Yet another one of this Ham-your-lobby guy’s “great” laws was “If a man put out the eye of another man, his eye shall be put out.” First of all, what if the person doesn’t have an eye?? What happens then?? Furthermore, what happens if the other guy has a surplus of eyes?? Like, if you “accidentally” poke out a couple of eyes, will they give you an eye, then take it away??? Hammurabi, please make more sense when trying to write laws in the future.

Andrew Alfaro, Multimedia Editor
Hello everyone, my name is Andrew Alfaro, and I am a Senior at QHHS. This is my second year in journalism, and I am the Multimedia Editor. I joined journalism in order to have a creative outlet and be able to express my thoughts to a wider audience. I’m interested in many subjects, such as horror films, and music artists like Crystal Castles, Snow Strippers, S4lem, and many others. I love video games such as Dead by Daylight and Black Ops 2. Some hobbies of mine include photography and working behind the scenes in films and mainly working with the camera and lighting. In the future, I hope to have a career in the film industry, directing major horror films and working with companies such as “A24” or “NEON”. I’m looking forward to working with the ubiquity staff and creating new memories and friendships, and projects I’m truly passionate about.
