Many of us look towards high school events and traditions to finally get some stress off our heads. Look no further than Homecoming 2025, a time to enjoy with friends or perhaps a lover.
Before we look at the event, you might have seen people all over campus and on social media posting their campaign photos alongside unique and creative themes. These students run for Homecoming Court and represent our student body during home games and dances. To get on, they must receive enough votes from our student body during the voting period 9/25 – 9/26! Let’s look closely at a few candidates, detailing why they decided to run and how they have positioned their campaigns.
QHHS Senior Nyleen Sehdev said, “I decided to run to empower myself because I’ve been very introverted all of high school.”
From QHHS Senior Angelina Navarro, “I wanted to run because I feel like if I didn’t, I would regret something I’ve always wanted to do!”
QHHS Senior Jake Gonzalez said, “I chose Taco Bell as my theme to campaign with because I love it, and I have not met a person who doesn’t like Taco Bell.”
Finally, from QHHS Senior Nayimah Chapelle, “I mainly focused on an Adventure Time theme! I thought it was very nostalgic, which many people enjoy! I then started branching out to include small other themes like Animal Crossing, and movies, simply because they represent me!”
Now, let’s talk about the week leading up to the main event, our Homecoming Spirit Week! From 10/06 – 10/10, QHHS ASB has made a new daily theme to plan your outfits. QHHS ASB Class of 2026 President Brody Culver said, “For the spirit week, we tried to make days where everyone would feel included and be able to participate.” Monday is “Color Carnival,” to dress in colorful clothes. Tuesday is “Football vs. Futbol” to wear your favorite jersey. Wednesday is “Animal vs. Tourist;” wear animal print or dress as a tacky tourist who stands out. Thursday is our Floral Day to wear floral patterns, hair clips, or flower crowns. Lastly, Friday is “Blu Day!” a day to represent our school by wearing blue and gold colors.
How about the dance and the game? As part of the Homecoming tradition, our football teams will have a home game against Pete Knight High School on October 10, 2025. The game itself will be $10 or free with an ASB card. Alongside the game, various clubs at our school will be selling items and refreshments as part of the “Homecoming Tailgate.” So make sure to bring some extra cash to support our clubs. But is it worth it to go?
Chapelle said, “I always love the hype and the turnout that we have for the football game and the tailgate! I’ve never missed a single homecoming football game!”
If you are a graduating senior this year, you could also make long-lasting memories that you won’t forget. Navarro said, “I am most excited for the time I will have with my friends since this will be my last hoco. I want to have the best time and make many memories.”
The dance will take place the following day. Culver said, “For the theme, we thought what would look the best and be easiest to recognize. Most people know what Brazil looks like because of the movie Rio. This year’s decor is top-notch; it’ll tie in with the theme and look aesthetically pleasing.” So, when you walk through the gates, make sure to appreciate the planning and execution.
What else can you expect during the event? From Gonzalez, “I’m always excited for the cotton candy machines and the DJ to play some bangers.”
Tickets-wise, pre-sale has been ongoing as part of the QHHS Summer Packages, but you can still buy Homecoming Dance Tickets for $25 in the Student Store until the event hits maximum capacity. With your ticket, don’t forget to bring your physical ID to get in!
So, should you go to homecoming 2025? You may regret not going.
