The Farmers Market Bringing The Community Together

The Antelope Valley Winery is located off of M and 20th street west in Lancaster. This winery not only sells wine, but also hosts a farmers market each Saturday that is open to the public. This event takes place from 9 A.M. to noon during the months of May through November.

The courtyard of the winery holds around fifteen different vendors. Each one sells a variety of fruit, vegetables, baked goods, nuts, spreads, sauces, dried fruit, cacti, essential oils, and ready-to-eat meals. Almost all of the produce comes straight from local farms. Vendors strive to ensure that their food is organic and disease free. Among the fruits and vegetables available include zucchini, strawberries, peaches, apples, corn, beets, and lettuce. The lawn is shaded by massive trees with picnic tables so patrons can enjoy the scenery and their tasteful goodies. Approximately two hundred people visit the event each Saturday.

The owner of the business Bee Honey attends this farmers market weekly.  This business sells various flavors of honey and pollen. You can also find Bee Honey at other farmers markets throughout the valley. Bee Honey is based out of Lancaster, and this business even has a shop on Lancaster Boulevard across from BeX.

The vendor Mama Vega is available at the farmer’s market every week, and it is based out of Palmdale. This brand has a wide variety of sauces, salsas, jams, seasons, and syrups. Most of their products are organically-based. Not only can you find their products at the farmer’s market but also at Albertsons and Ben’s Corner.

Some local residents were enjoying some of their purchases at the picnic tables. They reported that they attend the farmers market at least twice a month, and they appreciate the market’s close proximity to their house. They enjoy going there right when it opens to get a cheese tamale for breakfast. The residents delight in meeting new people and creating relationships with the vendors.

This farmers market provides a wide array of different items to please just about everyone. The venue enables people to enjoy the outdoors, eat some scrumptious food, and create new relationships. The Antelope Valley Winery Farmers Market works to draw the community together.
