After the long hours they put into their practices, the Quartz Hill Rebels were able to pull off an easy win during the Homecoming game last Friday, October 7th. With the final score of 49-0, Quartz Hill defeated Littlerock High School. Although it may have seemed like an easy game, the Rebels still had to play strong and put 100% of their effort into every play they made.

This year’s Homecoming game was very different from the previous years. In the wake of the death of our very own Quartz Hill Rebel, Alexis Ramirez, this game was dedicated to her and her family. The Quartz Hill football team played with Ramirez in their minds. Also during the event, many fireworks were lit up and an amazing performance was given by our marching band.

Matthew Tago, Varsity team co-captain and quarterback, had a good game. Although he did not score any touchdowns, he was able to perfect all his passes in order for the running back to score. Tago stated, “We played really good. We wanted to get our second and third string in the game so they could play, and overall we all did good and played well.” Considering his leadership style, he said, “I’ll take lead over the team, try to bring everyone together, and make big plays.” Matthew Tago is a great leader and a player to keep an eye out for.

Davon Jones, Varsity strong safety, wide receiver, and fullback, believes that the Rebels are on the right track. Davon stated, “I believe our chemistry is really high. We are with each other every day of the week.” Also, he stated his job is to simply do what he is told to do on the field and also make plays when needed.

Last, but definitely not least, is Arthur Delgado. As the starting varsity slot receiver, Delgado is an athlete with great speed and dedication to the game. Although his performance was good during the match, Delgado believes he can do much better. He states, “I think the team did good overall and worked  tighter. Looking at last Friday’s game, there is not much we really need to work on.” When Delgado was asked on how he can improve himself, he responded that he wants to become more humble as a player and always give 110% during both practices and games. Arthur Delgado is a great, modest, and dedicated athlete and is someone to be watching for in the future.

With all these great athletes, Quartz Hill football will finally be able to make it to the top again.
