Thanksgiving Break

Thanksgiving is arguably the best holiday that we celebrate every year. It is a day dedicated to the appreciation of others, love, and, most importantly, amazing food. The holidays are approaching, and everyone has something to celebrate this November. With the Black Friday sales, the Thanksgiving dinner, or simply just the week off, there is always something to look forward to during Thanksgiving week.

Black Friday sales have become a prevalent part of Thanksgiving tradition, and many are looking forward to the big sales. Best Buy, failing as the years go by, have increased the discounts on televisions and video games. QHHS student Colt Serrano states that he is specifically looking forward to the sale on game consoles, and they are expected to sell for as low as $250. With sales like these, it is a good idea to cherish the idea of giving thanks and to buy a gift for loved ones.

QHHS student Sophie Mbela says the one thing she looks forward to this Thanksgiving is food. The typical part of Thanksgiving, of course, is the Thanksgiving dinner. Whether it is a giant fancy meal with turkey and squash or Chinese takeout, what really matters is the people you spend it with.

A time for rejoicing, Thanksgiving allows for extended family reunions and stuffing yourselves as a family. With tons of good food and celebration, Thanksgiving is the time to greet that second cousin you have not seen in eight years or the grandmother that lives far from home. QHHS student Michael La really cherishes the Thanksgiving season because “[his] family from China comes to visit for the holiday.” Thanksgiving really revolves around family rather than the food during dinner.

If the family is not too big on Thanksgiving dinner or Black Friday sales are not interesting, just relax because you have the week off. All of the last minute testing and cramming you do before break will pay off because Thanksgiving break is the time for relaxation and enjoyment of the colder weather. Michael La says that Thanksgiving is the one time he can really “catch up on sleep and blow off steam from the school year.” So even if you do not have plans for Thanksgiving, just cherish the fact that we have the week off.
