When Michael Jordan first launched his signature shoes with Nike, the Air Jordan, it quickly rose in popularity. Other athletes such as Stephen Curry, Dwayne Johnson, and even Kevin Durant began collaborating with footwear manufacturing companies to create a personalized brand of shoes. Celebrities continue to release signature shoes to collaborate with popular shoe companies such as Nike, Reebok, Under Armour, and more.

One of the most popular brands ever released by an athlete is the Nike Air Jordan 1. The Air Jordan 1 was the first shoe made in the Air Jordan series and was created specifically for the basketball player Michael Jordan. Eventually, the Air Jordan 1 was released to the public and skyrocketed in popularity. The Air Jordan series completely reshaped the footwear industry. Basketball shoes became something that people could wear casually or athletically. Even thirty years after the release of the first Air Jordans, the series lives on, though the last NBA game Michael Jordan played was more than a decade ago. Air Jordan shoes can be seen in schools, gyms, basketball courts, and virtually everywhere else. This high-top basketball shoe is a game changer in signature athlete released shoes, and are priced from $100 to a whopping $100,000.

However, athletes are not the only people that seek to collaborate with shoe companies. Kanye West is a celebrity that released his own shoe series, the YEEZYs. The YEEZY shoe and apparel brand is a collaboration with Kanye West and Adidas. The YEEZY shoe has a low-top nad a knitted pattern with a very soft, cushioned sole. These typically retail at around $200, and are aimed mostly towards determined sneaker collectors. They are still extremely popular among the sneaker community, and continue to rise in popularity.

Another celebrity that collaborated with a big name brand and released a signature shoe is Dwayne Johnson, and if you haven’t heard of him, you probably live under a rock. Johnson collaborated with Under Armour to make his own workout shoe. The Under Armour Project Rock 1 retails at around $120. The series includes shoes and merchandise and is primarily aimed at people who go to the gym regularly and want a reliable workout shoe.
