Las Vegas Raiders Surprising 0-3 Start
Following the Sunday matchup on September 25 between the Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans, the Raiders would fall 0-3, placing last in the AFC West division. The disappointing performance at the end of the game left Raiders’ fans in despair.
Their performance in the previous week against the Cardinals ended dramatically in overtime. Going into the second half, the home team dominated the Cardinals 20-0. But in typical Raiders fashion, the team would find a way to lose. The improbable comeback at the end of the half by the Cardinals has frustrated Raider fans repeatedly.Â
The amount of star power the Raiders had accumulated in the offseason gave fans and sports analysts hope for the struggling franchise. In the 2022 off-season, the Raiders acquired many key components people believed would lead the Raiders to the next level. The most notable stars picked up were wide receiver Devante Adams and linebacker Chandler Jones. Along with these players, the Raiders redesigned the coaching staff after the termination of John Gruden.
Star Raiders wide receiver Devante Adams stated, “at the end of the day, we expect more, and we will do better as we move forward” after they came up short in their loss in Tennessee. This attitude and 0-3 record has left fans rethinking the reunification of Derek Carr and Devante Adams.Â
After the rough loss on the 25th, reports detailed a lengthy conversation between Raiders owner Mark Davis and head coach Josh McDaniels. Many speculate that Davis most likely expressed frustration and disappointment in the team’s recent performance. The Raiders fell to the worst record and the only winless team in the entire NFL. This statistic hurts fans because most sports analysts speculated a 12-5 record and playoff-bound season for the team.Â
After coming up short three times straight with one of the most loaded teams in the league, McDaniels spoke out on the importance of the upcoming games against divisional opponents. Coach McDaniels stated the following day of the loss, “You know, we don’t want to lose sight of the guys in front of us in our division.” In the following two weeks, the struggling team will have to travel to Kansas City and play home against their rival Broncos. These games will come back at the end of the season to either haunt or bless them.
