Luke Ligsay, Staff Writer

My name is Luke Ligsay, a sophomore student-athlete and a writer for Quartz Hill High School’s sports section of The Ubiquity. As a first-year writer in Journalism, I hope to bring many interesting and thoughtful articles to your attention. I’m very excited to bring you updates on sports not just inside the school but all the way up to the collegiate and professional levels. During this time, it is my duty to study the constantly changing rollercoaster of a year our Quartz Hill athletes go through. Outside of Journalism, I’m an AP scholar who has been playing basketball for nearly my entire life. I have also been researching a career in sports photography. In my sophomore year, I hope to not only excel in personal goals but also reach out to students and bring them thrilling current-day topics.

Greeting Royals! It's been one rollercoaster of a year for some of us. I know my senior peers are looking forward to their future lives in college and the next stage in their lives; juniors and sophomores are preparing for their SAT, and freshmen are adapting to their new lives and environment that they will learn like the back of their hand for the next four years. But collectively, we can all agree that we’ve made so many memories along the way--from late Friday night football games to late nights with desks or laptops filled with homework.

For me, I found many memories in my classes and basketball. This past semester I’ve shared many laughs and jokes with friends in my class, and I can’t wait for another semester. One of the highlights of this year was my basketball season. Although we came up short for first in golden league, we still competed, and it came down to the wire with many close games. Along with that, my photography brand has been thriving, and I’ve been bringing in new clients and opportunities left and right. Overall, things have been looking up. It’s time to finish this last semester strong and prepare for another year. Good luck to the rest of you!
