Beginning to Girls Soccer Season

The girl’s soccer team is off to a great start to begin their season. They started their season 5-0 and are ranked first in the Golden League, first in Division III Southern Section, 18th in California, and 75th in the nation. The girls have played teams like Castaic, Saugus, Littlerock, Palmdale, and Lancaster.

The girls are very excited for their season. Addison Leite mentioned her excitement for the rest of her season, saying,” I’m most excited for CIF because I think we’ll have a good shot at going far this year.” Leite is one of the girls’ team captains, leading the team in assists with eight assists and eight goals this season. Another player on the team, Natalie Arvizu, said what she was excited about as well, saying, “I’m most excited for all the bus rides and getting closer to all of my teammates.” Arvizu is one of the seniors this season, and so far, she has one goal but is ready to get plenty more. One of the first-year students on the Varsity squad, Alyssa Gonzales, has seven goals and one assist to start the season and said, “This season, I’m most excited for playoffs and winning our league.”

The girls are ready for stronger competition and know who their competitors will be this season. Arvizu thinks the competition would be more in the playoffs, commenting,” I think our competitors would be when we make it out to CIF and see the different teams.” Leite and Gonzales both think their competitors would be in the league. Leite said,” I believe our most significant competition for the season will be Highland.” With the games the girls have had, they have dominated every team, with the most considerable lead being 19-0 against Little Rock. With the recent games, the girls have all said something, with Leite first saying, “So far, I think we’ve played good as a team and will only get stronger as the season goes on.” and Gonzales has said, “The past games have lacked competition, but it’s good preparation for playoffs.”

Most of the girls have the same goal and expectation: to make it and win the CIF finals. Leite said, “The expectations we have for the season are winning the Golden League and CIF.” Gonzales said, “Our expectations are high in going far in the playoffs this year.” Arvizu said, “To win the CIF Finals!”
