The year is not even over, but serial killers and shootings are already taking place.
What is going on? Can we have a good rest of the year without any commotion? I guess not because just last week, a man was accused of killing three people. Not only were they people of color, but they were also homeless people in Los Angeles in an alley.
A 33-year-old black man named Jerrid Powell was accused of killing three homeless people last week. He was also charged with another murder that had a residential robbery involved in it. Now, it does not say the order in which Jerrid killed these poor people. Still, you can infer that he killed the homeless people first and then killed the person involved in the residential robbery because it said in multiple news sources that Powell was caught in connection with the fatal shooting of the man in nearby San Dimas during a robbery and the investigators used surveillance footage to track his other murders. Investigators recovered a gun that was used and involved in the residential robbery and the killings. Now, they are still trying to find a connection between all these murders, but so far, there has been no connection nor correlation between these four murders; the only link is that 3 of them were homeless, and the killings of the homeless men were all around different times, too. The first killing happened around 3 a.m. Sunday, November 26th, in an alley; the second occurred the next day shortly before 5 a.m.; and a third person was killed Wednesday around 2:30 a.m. The victims were two Hispanic men, ages 37 and 52, and a 62-year-old Black man. The victim involved in the robbery was 42, and his name was Nicholas Simbolon. He was killed on Tuesday, November 28th, in San Dimas, according to police.
Jarrid Powell was caught because he was driving a vehicle connected to Nicholas, so the Beverly Hills Police Department conducted a vehicle stop. He was found inside of it and was arrested in early November 30th. The car he was driving was stolen from Simbolon’s house because, before the robbery, Jarrid followed him home, killed him, and took the car. Jarrid appeared in court in a yellow jail jumpsuit the following Monday afternoon and was denied bail.
For now, that’s all we know about the Jarrid Powell case. There has yet to be any of the following information. Still, I will keep you informed once I obtain more information. But that is the case of Jarrid Powell. I give all my condolences to the people he killed and make sure you guys are aware of your community because this could happen to anyone, so be safe.
