It’s 2024, and the presidential elections are coming up. It feels as though it was just yesterday that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were elected. But with a new term comes a new presidential election, so let’s discuss how it’s going.
Currently, the primary elections are ongoing, and it does not end until September 10th, 2024; Joe Biden is currently the leading candidate of the Democratic party, with 55 delegates in the Democratic party, and Donald Trump, with 33 delegates in the Republican party. You may be wondering what the primary elections are. Primaries are elections that political parties use to select candidates for a general election. Then, each party’s candidates run against each other in the general election. If your favorite candidate is not set in the primaries, they may not have a chance in the general election. Why are primaries so important? The primaries get the leading candidates out there and get their names known. It also helps them get funded and supported by the delegates elected to represent the interests of a United States territory and its citizens or nationals.
Voting is essential now more than ever. You might not be old enough to vote, but you still can influence other people to vote other than yourselves. For example, you can influence parents, older friends, teachers, and even grandparents to vote. Every vote counts, and it helps us find someone to represent our United States, but try not to vote for someone unknown. If you vote for someone who is non-supported and unfamiliar, that will cause the votes to split up, and it will make someone who doesn’t deserve to win. For example, say that there was a classroom president vote, but only ten votes can count, and there are two popular candidates named blue and pink, but Blue wants to be president for the wrong reasons. Suppose six people vote pink and four people vote blue. In that case, blue won’t win, but if there is another person like orange and people are trying to get everyone to vote for orange and orange is unknown, then three people will vote for orange, four people will vote for blue, and three people will vote for pink making blue win. The votes are split, so using that metaphor, we need to get people on track with two primary candidates. We cannot divide into three leading candidates because the third person won’t win, and it could make someone win who does not deserve to. So, I advise you to go off the two primary candidates and not vote for someone unknown. I cannot tell you who you should vote for or get your friends and family to vote for, but I encourage you to research the right candidate. Here are some websites you can go to and see information about candidates and show you more details on the primary election and how to vote.

And there are many more that you can find by doing your research.
In conclusion, presidential elections are coming up. You should start some research because in a few months, like it or not, two new candidates will be in the office. Also, I should have mentioned this in the article, but make sure you’re doing your vice presidential election research as well as they are necessary. Still, you should always know who will be in the office because although you cannot vote, it can still affect you. With that being said, happy voting, and do your research!
