Everyone knows Lebron. His name has been echoed throughout history as “the chosen one”. He is possibly one of the most well-known people of the modern era, with the weight of his name rivaling the names of Alexander the Great and Genghis Khan. He has been, without a doubt one of the most important figures of the 21st Century. He has been a driving force for every team he has played on, with Lebron having 4 championship wins to his name as of 2024. A question arises from this dominance of the NBA, does Lebron have the Mandate of Heaven to back up his insanely long “rule” over the NBA? I believe so. However, a bit of context is needed to fill in the background of this question. Namely, what is the Mandate of Heaven? The Mandate of Heaven is a document signed into Ancient Chinese law by the Zhou dynasty, as a way of justifying their rule over the Chinese state after they had taken over the country from the previous Shang dynasty. This does lead obviously to the question of whether Lebron could use the Mandate of Heaven to Justify his dominance in the NBA. To answer this question, I interviewed Confucius himself, to ask if Lebron was worthy of the mandate. The interview went very very poorly, to say the least, as I forgot that I am currently unable to converse in Ancient Mandarin. I was able to find a few picture books with photos of Lebron featured within them, and with the ancient Mandarin translation book I keep handy, I was able to communicate the basics of my issue to Confucius. From what I surmised from my quick conversation with Confucius (it’s very hard to try to interview a 2500-year-old ancient scholar) was that if Lebron enabled a dynasty of sorts within the NBA, he could quite easily state that he had the Mandate of Heaven. I believe that Lebron’s easiest and fastest way through to creating the James Dynasty Within the NBA would be to take an elixir of immortality (of sorts). This elixir would make it so that Lebron can play in the NBA for at least the next hundred or so years, with the obvious drawback of the NBA championship title being given to whichever team decides to shell out enough money for Lebron. One thing is for certain though. Lebron has earned the Mandate of Heaven.
