Animal Crossing New Horizons: 3.0 Update Announced!

Animal Crossing New Horizons is a Nintendo game that is incredibly popular among gamers across the world, and the next update was just announced on October 30th. The release date for the update is January 15th, 2026, and it has a ton of amazing new features. Some of these features include a new resort hotel, upgraded item storage, new consoles, and more. On top of these new features, there will also be a Switch 2 Edition released for those who own the new Nintendo Switch 2, and will cost roughly $65.
In terms of the 3.0 update, the features are incredible. The resort hotel will be located at the end of your islands pier and is run by the Kapp’n’s family. You will be able to decorate guest rooms inside the hotel to have specific themes, and you’ll receive furniture pieces that match whatever theme you choose for each room. For each room theme you complete, you will earn Hotel Tickets, which are special currency you can use to trade for unique and exclusive items at Grams’ souvenir shop. You can also create hotel outfits that guests and you can wear.

Upgraded item storage is another huge feature in this update, and practically doubles the previous amount of storage you had prior. While the number of items you could have in storage used to cap at 5000, this amount has now been increased to 9000.
Circling back to the souvenir shop from the resort hotel, the exclusive items mentioned earlier are the multitude of Nintendo games being added by this update! Some of these items include the Game Boy, NES, Famicon, Nintendo Switch 2, and many more! If you possess a Switch Online membership, you can play classic games on each system.

Now in terms of the Switch 2 Edition, there are some perks there too. This edition will have improved resolution, mouse controls, a megaphone, and an increased multiplayer size of up to 12 people. The resolution in TV mode will, if compatible with your TV, be increased to 4K. You will also be able to use the mouse mode of the Joy-Cons to place furniture and decorate your in-game home easier than before. The Megaphone will be added back to the game and is used to locate villagers via calling their name into the megaphone.

Overall, this update is huge and will be incredibly beneficial to the playability of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, as well as the fun players can have!

Hey Royals! My name is Blaise, and I am returning to Journalism for my third and final year! I am once again your Print Editor this year, and I hope to make the physical newspaper even better than before. I’m a senior this year and can’t believe how fast time has flown. I am also returning to the marketing team, which will be very exciting. In terms of school, I unfortunately did not get all 5 AP classes I signed up for and only got two of the ones I wanted. However, my workload will hopefully be less since I won’t have as many challenging classes. Outside of school, my hobbies have remained the same. I adore writing, and am still working on a few books. I’ve also been able to bake more often, and I hope to continue with that for as long as I can until I head to college. Since taking ceramics last year, I have also gained another hobby of creating ceramic items. I have a goal to save up to buy my own supplies to do so at home, but until then, I will do so in class. I can’t wait to see what this year holds, and I hope everyone is as excited as I am! For my fellow seniors, I can’t believe we’ll graduate soon! I hope everyone has a fun year, go royals!! February 4, 2026 Update The school year is almost over, and I can’t believe how fast it went by! All of my college applications are done, and I’m so excited to say that I’ve already committed to CSUN! Now that all of that stress is gone, I’ve started to feel very bittersweet about my senior year. It’s crazy to believe that in just a few months I’ll be graduated and going to college. I will miss so many parts of this year, from the Folklorico team down to Journalism. All of the amazing memories I’ve made throughout my high school career feel so bittersweet now that I’m leaving them all behind.

What’s crackalackin’ other than my bones? I’m Addison, Operations Director and one of the few copy editors that works for the QHHS Ubiquity. This is my third year in Journalism, and I am very much enjoying being a part of this class. This year, I am taking four AP classes along with a few fun classes to make my last year fun to some extent. Academics aside, I often play Minecraft and Roblox games in my free time, though I also read plenty of books and write plenty of stories that I never finish. I enjoy anything robot-related, and so I am a big Transformers and Gundam fan (I have an expanding Gunpla collection). I’m excited to see what this year has in store for me. I will be hoping for the best! If you see me around, don’t be afraid to say hi, I’m more than happy to converse with anyone! And finally, I love dragons. Dragons are cool. This is my last semester being a student here at Quartz Hill! So scary!! But, I am ready for the college life ahead of me, now that my college applications are over. I still am a big fan of Transformers and Gundam, and still play Roblox and Minecraft. I recently got onto the Science Olympiad team, as well, and have had so much fun competing and trying out new sciences! With this being my last semester here in Quartz Hill High School, I hope it is the best so far. Go out with a bang, they always say. And finally, as always, I love dragons. Dragons are cool.
