Homecoming Week

Homecoming+Week

Every year, students at Quartz Hill High School enjoy a variety of activities and events, and these are all made possible by the ASB staff. On October 7, the festivities of Homecoming will be on full display all around the campus beginning with an assembly and carnival. Following this will be the Homecoming football game, in which our home team, the Rebels, will battle the team from Little Rock High School on the gridiron from 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. This exciting game often has an amazing turnout by the Quartz Hill students and their families.

The next day, the spirit of the Homecoming season will continue as students attend the dance that will take place at the QHHS gymnasium from 7:30-11:00 p.m. For many students, figuring out how to ask their date to the dance is nerve wracking, but once done, they then get to enjoy the night dancing and having a good time. The crowning of the King and Queen will be the highlight of the event, and the celebration will continue late into the night.

The entire first school week of October is spirit week, and ASB is giving away prizes to those who show the most school spirit. Participating is as simple as taking a selfie of yourself dressed in the spirit theme and posting it on social media.

The preparation for Homecoming takes planning and organizing by ASB, and in the end, it all culminates into a magical week filled with school spirit and laughter. For the past month and a half, ASB has had “ASB work days,” in which they began by brainstorming ideas to decide on this year’s Homecoming theme. Once the theme was voted on, members worked on the ordering of the supplies and the finer details of each event in order to make sure everything goes as planned. Throughout the week, countless hours were spent decorating the gym and preparing for the assembly and carnival.

Eileen McGregor, an ASB member who has been helping to set up for the event, said, “I really think that this year’s Homecoming is going to exceed your expectations. Homecoming to me is important because this is the one night that will set the mood for the following months to come.”

Karina Patel, another ASB planner, explained the importance of Homecoming, and her thoughts on the events that have been planned. She said, “I do believe Homecoming is one of the most important nights during high school because Homecoming is where you can go to have a fun time and to get to know new people. It is also the night that everyone looks forward to and will remember for months to come.”

Overall, Homecoming will be a night to look forward to. Come out and enjoy a night of dancing, hanging out with friends, and lots of food.
