Super Bowl LV

On February 7. 2021, the Super Bowl LV began and determined who would be this year’s 2021 winner for the Lombardi trophy. The teams going against one another were the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. You would not want to miss it since it was a matchup between quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Tom Bradey. Tom Bradey is used to going to the Super Bowl, but this is the first time going to the Super Bowl with his new team, the Buccaneers.

In the first quarter, both teams were preventing one another from scoring until the final five minutes. Chiefs player Harrison Butker scored a field goal in the last five minutes of the quarter. No one scored until the last 40 seconds of the quarter. Tom Bradey threw a touchdown to his former teammate from the Patriots, Rob Gronkowski, and scored another point from a field goal after scoring. The quarter ended with the Buccaneers leading 7-3.

The second quarter began with the Buccaneers quickly getting close to the end zone. They had three opportunities to score a touchdown since they were extremely close to the end zone, but each of those times, the Chiefs’ defense held them back, so they did not score. With about six minutes left in the second quarter, Gronkowski again scores a touchdown, and the kicker scores a field goal for an extra point. With one minute remaining in the quarter, the Chiefs decided to settle for a field goal for three points. It seemed like it should have ended there, but Antonio Brown gets a touchdown in the last 10 seconds, and the Buccaneers end the quarter leading 21-6.

After the two quarters, the halftime show began. The singer playing this year was The Weeknd, who performed five of his songs: his number one hit Starboy, The Hills, I Can’t Feel My Face, Earned It from the movie “Fifty Shades of Grey,” and Blinding Lights. 7 million dollars were put into the show by The Weeknd himself which is why the stage was so spectacular.

When the halftime show ended, it was time for the third quarter. Four minutes into the quarter, the Chiefs attempt a 52-yard field goal and get another three points. During the last eight minutes, Leonard Fournette scores a touchdown for the Buccaneers, and they got an additional point for the field goal. Later, when there were three minutes left in the quarter, the Buccaneers decided to try to score a field goal for an additional three points and made it. The quarter ended with the Buccaneers still winning 31-9 against the Chiefs.

In the final quarter, both teams held their defense, and neither team scored on one another. There were multiple times where the Chiefs could have scored, but the Buccaneers held their defense and prevented all the passes that could have given the Chiefs a touchdown. The same went for the Buccaneers when they tried to score. The game ended with 30 seconds left since the Chiefs did not have enough time to score any more points, so the Buccaneers were the victors. The last time the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Super Bowl was back in the 2002-03 season, and this game was their second Super Bowl win.
