Jayleen Obregon, Staff Writer

Hello, my name is Jayleen Obregon, and I am a junior here at Quartz Hill High School. I take many AP classes and am in a few school clubs, such as Spanish Club, Model United Nations, and now my older sister's Medical Club, which she created this year. My family consists of six people, my parents, my two sisters (one older and one younger), and a younger brother. Not only am I a student, but I am also an athlete. I play club soccer and dance for the Spanish Dance Team here at Quartz Hill High School. I love to stay active and work out; I especially love dancing to Spanish music because I grew up dancing which plays a massive role in my culture. My culture is a mixture of Guatemalan, Salvadorian, and American aspects. Overall, this year I look forward to being a part of Journalism, seeing my writing and creativity skills grow, and participating more in school events.

January 30, 2023 Update

Hey guys! Welcome back! Round two of school, I am excited and nervous at the same time. The first semester was a lot of work with soccer and dance on top of school and amongst other things, but overall it was probably my best first semester out of all my high school years so far. I grew closer to some friends and apart from others, and right now, life is going really well!

Going into quarter three, I am entering with a determined mindset to get even better grades and be even more active in clubs. So far, I have helped my older sister with her Medical club and my friend Sukhmani with MUN. Next year I am hoping to have more positions in more clubs, and hopefully (fingers crossed), I can get an editor-in-chief position next year or a copy editor position in journalism so that I can continue to do more for Ubiquity.

Those are all my latest updates, so until next time, bye!! :)
