Preslee Adams, Staff Writer

Hi! My name is Preslee Adams, and this is my second year in journalism. I am filled with excitement for this upcoming school year and cannot wait to grow my skills as a writer. I look forward to becoming a stronger student and acquiring new, unexpected talents that I can translate into other classes. I have been on the Quartz Hill Cheer team for four years and am a varsity cheerleading captain. I also enjoy reading books in my free time. Along with school, I am currently applying to many colleges and working on scholarships, so I have a tight schedule! Senior year will be stressful, but I am so thrilled to be back on campus.

12.3.21 Update

The last few weeks have been focused solely on college applications. Being a first-generation college applicant has been stressful in that I felt lost at times, but it has been a great learning experience, and it is exciting to know that a new chapter in my life is coming so soon. Writing my admissions essays has been the most therapeutic process because I realized that I genuinely felt connected to the prompts that I answered and uncovered revelations about myself that were lost in the world's stress. My least favorite part of this process was filling out the federal aid form, but I know how important it will be in the future when determining my tuition. I applied to ten colleges in the last two months, and I plan on applying to a few more by the end of December. I am most excited to find out my early admission decisions, which I will receive in a few weeks. I am hoping to get into my top choice: Pepperdine!
